RWE and BRABUS sign cooperation agreement in Geneva
- RWE is bringing green power to the streets
- BRABUS presents fascinating electric sports car
- Exclusive international collaboration
In November 2009, the joint offering from RWE Effizienz GmbH, a subsidiary of RWE AG, and BRABUS Zero Emission, a business division of BRABUS GmbH, was presented for the first time. Now, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the signing of the cooperation agreement signals the next step of this collaboration. As a result, the “Green Package" will now also be offered outside of Germany.
On site for the signing of this exclusive agreement were Carolin Reichert, Divisional Manager E-Mobility at RWE and Prof. h.c. Bodo Buschmann, CEO of BRABUS GmbH.
“Electric cars are gaining ground. At the same time, the use of eco-power and shorter charging times are necessities. To that end, RWE offers very powerful quick charging stations for the home that reduce charging times by more than 50% with currently available batteries,” said Carolin Reichert.
Bodo Buschmann added: “Our special edition TESLA Roadster Sport BRABUS Green Package is coming at the right time. We have combined the clean electric power system with extraordinary driving dynamics and an exclusive design.”
With the “Green Package”, RWE and BRABUS Zero Emission, a business division of the largest independent automotive tuning company in the world, are together offering an innovative, all-inclusive and worry-free package.
The two-seater sports car is not just radiant due to its exclusive BRABUS fittings: RWE is contributing a high tech charging station for the buyer’s garage with the RWE-BRABUS “Autostrom” Charging Box. Customers in Germany receive environmentally benign RWE Eco-Power for 30,000 km in addition to an “annual pass” for free use of all public RWE charging stations. The combination of a fascinating electric sports car and the option of being able to “fill up” in an environmentally benign and fast way both at home and on the road is the first product to emerge from this new collaboration between RWE and BRABUS.
Elements of the “GREEN PACKAGE”:
- TESLA Roadster Sport BRABUS
- RWE-BRABUS “Autostrom” charging box
- One year’s free access to all public RWE charging points
- RWE Eco-Power allowance for 30,000 km within Germany
For use in the garage at home, RWE has developed a compact quick charging station that needs little space, features a high-quality design and is extremely powerful.
Public RWE charging points can also be used, which enable drivers to charge their cars where they have been parked: for example, during a visit to a restaurant, while shopping or while attending a concert. These charging points also offer very short charge times. RWE has already installed over 240 public charging points in eight large German cities. In Berlin alone, the number should reach 500 this year. In the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, 400 charging points will be available during 2010. Work to expand the charging infrastructure in other German metropolitan areas is also continuing.
The TESLA Roadster Sport BRABUS Green Package is set apart by its exclusive equipment and has an even more spectacular visual appearance. To give the mid-engine sports car a more striking face, BRABUS designers enhanced the front apron with an especially light carbon front lip and daytime running lights were integrated into the grille. The partners will initially offer the special edition TESLA Roadster Sport BRABUS Green Package in Germany. In a second phase, international customers should also be able to purchase the package. According to the partners, an expansion of the offer to include other electric cars may indeed be possible.
The sides of the TESLA have been enhanced with BRABUS undercarriage lighting in the form of futuristic-looking space lights. They are activated by remote control or by opening the door. The BRABUS rear wing and rear diffuser catch the eye at the rear, both of which are produced from lightweight but high-strength carbon fiber. Colour-matched applications add further visual emphasis to the round taillights.
And speaking of colour: BRABUS will also provide any colour requested by the owner of the electric sports car. The available colours range from conventional non-metallic and metallic paints in all imaginable hues to matte paint or special-effect paint with genuine crystals.
Another plus for driving dynamics are the custom BRABUS tyre/wheel combinations. The two-seater has been refined with weight-optimised BRABUS Monoblock S alloy wheels in the size 7Jx18 at the front and size 8.5Jx19 to the rear. The corresponding high-performance tyres in size 215/35 ZR 18 on the front and size 255/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle were selected specifically for their low rolling resistance.
Innovative ideas have been the domain of BRABUS for more than three decades. Following that tradition, the TESLA Roadster tuning programme offered by the company from Bottrop addresses an oft-criticised issue of electric cars: the lack of engine sound! To give the two-seater a more thrilling sound, the BRABUS electronics engineers have developed a Space Sound Generator. The TESLA Roadster crew can choose from various simulated engine noises such as the typical sound of a V8 or race car or two futuristic soundscapes called “Beam” and “Warp”. The intensity of the sound matches the power output of the electric engine.
Of course, the BRABUS customisation programme for the TESLA Roadster also includes exclusive interior options. The programme starts with the integrated door sill protector on the upper part of the sillboard with illuminated BRABUS logo.
The BRABUS upholstery shop handcrafts the exclusive interiors for the two-seater with utmost precision. A combination of especially soft yet durable BRABUS perforated lightweight leather and Alcantara is used. The vehicle floor is covered with stitched lightweight leather and adds an especially exclusive ambiance.
