RWE and Daimler are shaping the future of electro-mobility

Extensive support by the city of Berlin and the Federal Government
The joint project undertaken by RWE and Daimler is receiving extensive support amongst politicians. At the press conference to launch "e-mobility Berlin" on 5.9.2008, German Chancellor Dr. Merkel stated:
"I believe that we are actually treading new ground with the combination of electricity generation and the automotive industry. With its pioneering role, this very concrete project is clearly showing how something innovative can take on concrete form. For example, one already has the image that each parking area and each parking meter will be equipped with a number of sockets, so that vehicles can be both fuelled and parked there. So this is a very exciting project. I therefore welcome this initiative from the bottom of my heart and with full understanding, and believe that electro-mobility may be an area of innovation which may perhaps achieve a breakthrough faster than we believe."
